Jagex bought the game while the dev was working on a patch with some new stuff and released an entirely new, different game on steam that didn't really resemble the original - I thought it was fun enough, but it completely missed the point of the OG game and it didn't really catch on There's some decent popular maps out there, and sometimes hallway/pinpoint can be fun, but otherwise there's basically one classicgen server and it needs a shot in the arm to get a game started I think the game has lost a lot of its purity thanks to the custom maps because most servers run tower of babel (the intel is on a platform in the sky so both teams have to make a fuckhuge tower/staircase to it)/other shit, and the maps often aren't as open to creative play Later updates added a SMG/shotgun and custom map support This game actually encourages tactics like camouflage or building trenches because if someone domes you with a rifle you're done

Originally (or, well, early on, I don't remember the update timeline) you had a rifle, shovel, pickaxe, grenades, and blocks the map was random every time (though it maintained some consistent elements, like a river on green's side of the map and mountains on blue's), the fog was super fucking thick (still is), and you had no idea if you were doing to hear the sound of your head being blown open at any time while you tried to grab the other team's intel and run back Some dude made a game a couple years back like 2011, jesus christ, where you are either green (good guys who build bridges and fight for your freedom) or blue (dirty tunnel digging scum, probably smell from all the dirt they dig, hide in holes all day) in what was basically the most fucking traumatizing block game ever made
